What is a shampoo bar?
Yes, this is the most common question we get from newbies to the shampoo bar world! While 95% of shampoos are in liquid form, these shampoos come in bar form - not unlike a bar of soap. We took all the ingredients that cleanse and benefit your hair and scalp, removed the water and made them into concentrated bars of ingredients. These solid-form cleansers do everything a liquid shampoo can do - cleanse, add volume and sheen, protect, add moisture - but require less complex packaging (an environmental win!).
How do shampoo bars work?
Our shampoo bars are super concentrated bars of ingredients that become activated when mixed with water in your shower or bath. When the bars make contact with water, they lather up and that lather can be worked through your hair like regular shampoo to cleanse without stripping your hair and scalp.
How do I use a shampoo bar?
Stroke the solid shampoo down your hair a few times to lather it up, or rub the bar between your hands to create a lather. Gently massage it into the scalp and hair, as you would with a liquid shampoo. Rinse out and repeat steps with our solid hair conditioner bars. Leave the bars out to air dry (on a soap dish with drainage), ready for its next use (check out our full guide with tips here).
How many washes can I get from a shampoo bar?
This is difficult to answer as it depends on how long and thick the hair is, how often the hair is washed and conditioned, how the bars are stored, how many people are using the bars, etc. Typically, approximately 50-75 washes! Remember that our shampoo bars are totally concentrated shampoo, with minimal water content. With proper use and care they should last for a loooong time. With the water removed, these concentrated shampoo bars can do the job of 2 to 3 regular bottles of commercial liquid shampoo and there is no plastic bottle to throw away afterward.
SHAMPOO BAR HINTS: Keep them dry between uses on one of our soap dishes Don't let your shampoo or conditioner bar sit in a puddle of water Allow shampoo and conditioner bar plenty of fresh air to dry between uses If your bar ever gets waterlogged and becomes gooey, simply set it on a draining soap dish for a few days and let it dry out thoroughly
